Mykolaiv received significant financial support for the restoration of the water supply system

Mykolaiv received significant financial support for the restoration of the water supply system, thanks to the agreement between "Mykolaivvodokanal" and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the amount of almost 25 million euros. The mayor of Mykolaiv Oleksandr Sienkovych informs about this.

According to him, the existing water supply and drainage infrastructure of the city is quite old and in need of serious renewal, and was also significantly damaged due to military aggression.

The project is aimed at achieving several important goals, including ensuring uninterrupted operation of existing water intakes "Dnipro-Mykolaiv" and reducing energy consumption and drinking water losses. These steps are aimed at increasing the reliability of the city's infrastructure and improving the quality of water supply for local residents.

The total cost of the project is approximately 33 million euros. This amount includes EUR 10 million in loan funds from the EBRD, EUR 5 million in a grant from the Eastern European Partnership Fund for Energy Efficiency and Environment, EUR 9.8 million in a grant from the EBRD's Special Crisis Response Fund, and EUR 8.2 million in subventions from the state budget of Ukraine for the restoration of the water intake facilities "Dnipro - Mykolaiv".

An important aspect of the implementation of the project is the fact that no costs are foreseen for its financing from the budget of the Mykolaiv City Territorial Community, which indicates a significant amount of international support and cooperation.

The head of the city emphasized the importance of this project for improving the lives of local residents and conserving energy resources, which plays an important role in the city's sustainable development strategy.

The implementation of the project is expected in the coming years in order to ensure a stable and efficient water supply for all residents of Mykolaiv.
