Russia is expelled from the UNESCO Executive Board: Global isolation due to aggression

In a historic decision, Russia has been expelled from the UNESCO Executive Board for the first time in the history of this world organization. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who emphasized that such a step is important and correct. This decision reflects not only sanctions for Russia's aggressive policy, but also signals the end of the era of its influence.

Sergiy Kyslytsya, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, added that this is not the first time Russia has been expelled from international organizations. Earlier, it was expelled from the International Court of Justice based on the election results, and in October - from the Egmont Group on Global Financial Intelligence.

The Egmont Group, which brings together more than 160 intelligence units from around the world, fights financial crime and terrorism. Russia's suspension from the group will limit its access to important financial information.

These steps are part of the international condemnation of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The country has been expelled from various organizations, such as the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions and the Union of European Football Associations, which has canceled its participation in the League of Nations and European Cups for the 2022/23 season.
