  • Stoltenberg: Poland and Slovakia's support for Ukraine is not weakening

    Опубликовано: 2023-10-02 13:00:21

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is confident that Poland and Slovakia will remain loyal partners of Ukraine in the fight against Russia, despite recent rhetorical disputes, and emphasized that this support will be renewed after the elections.

Poland has long been one of Ukraine's strongest allies in its fight against Russian aggression. However, Poland's recent decision to extend its ban on imports of Ukrainian grain has created tensions between the two countries.

Stoltenberg expressed confidence that Ukraine and Poland will find ways to resolve these issues that will not negatively affect military support for Ukraine. He indicated that this issue will be discussed and resolved after the political changes associated with the parliamentary elections in Poland, which are scheduled for October 15.

Despite the recent difficulties, Stoltenberg emphasized that the partnership between Ukraine and Poland will be restored, and he is confident of further support.

Slovakia has also been an important ally of Ukraine and has provided important military assistance, including MiG-29 fighter jets and S-300 air defense systems. Stoltenberg noted that regardless of the outcome of the Slovak elections, discussions and meetings within NATO will continue, and emphasized the importance of maintaining support for Ukraine.

Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Zvarych expressed optimism and hope for reaching a mutual understanding on the disputed issues, noting that the issue of grain imports should not destroy the stable relations between Ukraine and Poland. Zvarych also said that the two sides have already started discussions and exchanges of proposals on the issue in order to find a solution that meets the interests of both countries.

Expressing hope for maintaining a solid foundation of friendly relations between Ukraine and Poland, Zvarych noted that most issues are developing very positively, and this is an achievement of the peoples of both countries.
