Unemployment rate in Ukraine to drop to 19% by the end of the year - Ministry of Economy

According to the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine, the unemployment rate in the country is expected to reach 19% by the end of this year. This information was released by the press service of the Ministry of Economy.

First Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko pointed out that overcoming unemployment is one of the most important tasks for the country. She made the statement during an online meeting with European Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights Nicolas Schmitt.

Svyrydenko also said that the Ukrainian government has already introduced a number of programs aimed at improving the situation on the labor market. Among them are grant programs for entrepreneurs and people wishing to start their own business. One of the key conditions for receiving grant support for business is the creation of new jobs. There are also training and retraining programs.

According to Svyrydenko, an important aspect of solving the unemployment problem is social dialog between employers, trade unions and authorities.

The parties also discussed the preparation of the Ukraine Plan under the EU's Ukraine Facility program. An important part of this plan is social dialogue, labor law reform and support from Western partners to adapt Ukrainian legislation to modern requirements. They also discussed the upcoming visit to Kyiv of a delegation from the European Trade Union Confederation.
