  • G20 Summit: Ukraine was not included in the list of participants

    Опубликовано: 2023-08-16 15:30:10

Ukraine did not find its place among the participants of the upcoming G20 summit scheduled for September 9-10 in New Delhi. Nevertheless, Russia, which Vladimir Putin plans to represent, suddenly appeared on the list of invited countries. This unusual situation was reflected in a message posted on the G20 website.

Among the permanent members of the G20, the leaders of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States were invited. The event will also be attended by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel.

This time, Russian dictator Putin is also expected to attend the summit.

Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar announced in June that Ukraine would not receive an invitation to the event. He justified this by saying that Ukraine is not a member of the G20, while Russia, waging war against it, belongs to this group.

"The G20 deals with economic issues, not geopolitics," he explained, adding that the event would discuss the economic consequences of the conflict, but not political issues.
