Ukraine continues to develop a decentralized energy system, which allows citizens and businesses to gradually reduce their dependence on centralized sources of supply. Thanks to state initiatives and lending programs, the population has already received energy loans worth almost UAH 1 billion, and businesses have received over UAH 10 billion. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
According to the head of government, 148 cogeneration plants and 84 modular boiler houses were launched in Ukraine last winter alone. The total capacity of these facilities reached 268 megawatts, which made a significant contribution to stabilizing the country's energy system in conditions of war and resource shortages.
It is planned to install another 420 new autonomous heat supply facilities by 2025, mainly in regions bordering the combat zone. Thus, the government seeks to increase the energy sustainability of frontline territories and provide their population with reliable heat supply in case of emergencies.
Shmyhal emphasized that state support programs aimed at the development of small-scale energy have become especially popular among the population and business. Citizens are actively applying for loans to install gas-piston and cogeneration plants, wind turbines, solar panels and generators.
In the first ten months of the program's implementation, Ukrainian business has already attracted more than 10 billion hryvnias in credit funds, which will allow installing approximately 640 megawatts of additional capacity. Such an increase is strategically important for the country's energy security and reducing the load on the state power system.
Lending to individuals also demonstrates positive dynamics - the total amount of funds attracted is approaching 1 billion hryvnias. This indicates a high level of interest among citizens in implementing energy-efficient solutions and the desire for energy independence at the household level.
