  • The threat of a Russian offensive on Kharkiv: Assessment of the Head of the Regional Military Administration

    Опубликовано: 2024-01-08 10:30:05

In light of the turbulent events on the border of Kharkiv region, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleh Syniehubov, expressed his assessment of a possible Russian offensive against the city of Kharkiv in an article for The Telegraph.

Currently, no concentration of Russian troops near Kharkiv has been recorded, but it is important to note the unprecedented massive shelling of settlements along the border. Over the past two days, Russia has fired dozens of S-300 missiles at Kharkiv region, hitting residential buildings and other infrastructure.

Syniehubov pointed out that although the enemy is conducting massive shelling, no concentration of military units is detected on the contact line. He emphasized that any offensive by the enemy requires the concentration of military forces, which is not currently observed. However, the situation can change very quickly, and Kharkiv should always be prepared for possible threats.

More than 40 injuries and two deaths have already been reported as a result of the missile attack on Kharkiv. The missiles damaged buildings, infrastructure and caused cars to catch fire. Syniogubov also reported attacks on many settlements in Kharkiv region, noting that the Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled 7 enemy attacks near some areas.

Despite the lack of concrete confirmation of the offensive, Kharkiv is entering a period of tension where readiness and vigilance against possible threats are important.
