The UK is strengthening Ukraine's air defense

In the wake of the deadly air strikes carried out by Russia on Ukraine on December 29, the United Kingdom has decided to strengthen the country's air defense. UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps announced the shipment of hundreds of British-made air defense missiles to help Ukraine defend itself against possible future attacks.

Shapps emphasized on Twitter that the provision of hundreds of air defense missiles is a manifestation of the UK's commitment to supporting Ukraine in the face of Russia's hostile actions. He noted that Ukraine has all the necessary resources to defend itself against the "barbaric bombing" of the Kremlin's allies.

According to the defense minister, the December 29 air strikes are an attempt by Russian President Vladimir Putin to test Ukraine's defense and the West's resolve. Such attacks, he said, mark a desperate attempt to regain momentum after Russia's serious losses from previous events.

"Today's air defense package sends an unmistakable message in the face of Russian barbarism that the UK remains fully committed to supporting Ukraine. Now is the time for the free world to stand together and redouble our efforts to get Ukraine what they need to win," Shapps emphasized.

As a reminder, on the night of December 29, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine, which damaged cities such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv and Zaporizhzhia. Approximately 120 towns and villages were hit, with a casualty toll of 30 dead and over 160 wounded.
