Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund has announced plans to transfer the first F-16 combat aircraft to Ukraine, indicating that this event will take place in early 2024. This information was published by Baha News.
"We hope that in March or April we will be able to deliver the first batch of these combat aircraft to Ukraine," Lund said.
The delivery of F-16s to Ukraine is seen as an important step in supporting Ukraine in the face of geopolitical tensions and a show of solidarity with a country that is fighting for its territorial integrity and independence.
However, Lund emphasized that it is not enough to simply supply the aircraft. It is important to take into account the aspects of technical support, training of pilots and personnel, as well as ensuring the safety of the aircraft during their operation.
Ukraine and Denmark already have a history of defense cooperation, and this step demonstrates Denmark's readiness to support Ukraine in its efforts to combat geopolitical challenges and strengthen the country's defense capabilities.
This initiative is part of broader international support for Ukraine in the face of the conflict in the east of the country and emphasizes the importance of cooperation between the two countries to preserve peace and stability in the region.
