According to Reuters, fragments similar to those of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) have been found in Romania. If confirmed, this will be the third such incident in the NATO member state in recent days.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense reported that the remains of such aircraft were found after the Russian UAV attack on the Ukrainian port of Izmail on August 13.
According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 32 Shahed-131/136 UAVs were shot down in a night attack over Odesa region.
The wreckage of the drone was scattered over a large area near the towns of Nufarul and Victoria, which are located about 14 kilometers from the border with Ukraine.
Earlier, fragments of UAVs had already fallen on the territory of Romania. After that, the Romanian side began building concrete bomb shelters near the border with Ukraine, and last night the Romanians were notified of a possible threat.
Colonel Eugen Chirice said that the RO-Alert alarm system was triggered around 3:00 am and was directed at the Galati Rutier customs office in the direction of Giurgiulesti.
This alarm was announced in 8 localities.
Attacks on Ukraine's river ports, which are located just a few hundred meters from the Romanian border, increase security threats to NATO countries, whose members have mutual defense commitments.
This is the third time in recent days that UAV fragments have been found on Romanian territory. For example, on September 9, Romanian Navy personnel sent by the garrison command in Tulcea to search for fragments of attack drones found fragments of one of them about 2.5 kilometers southeast of the village of Plauru, part of the Chatalkoi commune.
