Areas of development: The Ministry of Digital Transformation modernizes Diia for all

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine (the Ministry of Digital Transformation) has begun modernizing the Diia web portal to make it accessible to people with various disabilities, such as visual and hearing impairments. According to Valeriia Tkach, Deputy Director of the Department for the Development of Electronic Services at the Ministry of Digital Transformation, the Diia app is expected to be fully adapted to digital accessibility requirements by the end of 2024.

Last year, the Ministry of Digital Transformation recorded a 23% improvement in digital accessibility, but not all government web resources in Ukraine meet these requirements. This step of the Ministry of Digital Transformation is aimed at making efforts to improve the country's digital space faster.

The plans of the Ministry of Digital Transformation include not only the modernization of its own resources, but also cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to implement digital accessibility in central and local government bodies. In this context, each new service will be tested for compliance with these standards to ensure accessibility for every citizen, regardless of their capabilities.

It is important to note that the implementation of these measures will not only improve the accessibility of public services for people with disabilities, but will also be an important step towards greater inclusion and equality in society.

Digital accessibility is becoming increasingly important in today's world, where information technology is rapidly developing. Therefore, the steps taken by the Ministry of Digital Transformation to modernize Diia reflect a response to the challenges of our time and Ukraine's desire to become a more digital and inclusive country.
