  • In Ukraine, there is a gradual increase in pension payments

    Опубликовано: 2024-07-22 13:00:53

In Ukraine, there is a gradual increase in pension payments, but a significant number of pensioners still receive small amounts. This is reported by "Opendatabot".

The average pension in Ukraine increased by 8% compared to last year and now amounts to 5,816 hryvnias. This growth was due to the indexation conducted in March of this year.

However, despite this increase, almost 4.5 million pensioners receive pensions of less than 4,000 hryvnias, of which more than half receive less than 3,000 hryvnias. This shows that many older people are still living on the edge of poverty.

However, there is a positive trend: the share of pensioners with pensions of less than 4,000 hryvnias decreased from 51% to 43.5% in the first half of 2024. At the same time, about 1.2 million citizens receive pensions of more than 10,000 hryvnias, which shows some stability and income growth in certain groups of pensioners.

There is a significant regional disparity in the amount of pensions. The highest average pension was recorded in Kyiv - 7,940.27 hryvnias, which is 36.5% higher than the national average. Instead, the lowest average pension is received in the Ternopil region - 4,436.41 hryvnias, which is 24% lower than the average in Ukraine.

In eight regions of Ukraine, the average pension exceeds the national indicator. These are Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Rivne, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, Kyiv regions and the city of Kyiv. In the Kharkiv region, pension payments are at the level of national averages.

According to the Pension Fund of Ukraine, at the beginning of July 2024, there were more than 10.2 million pensioners in the country. This is a significant part of the population that needs stable financial support and social protection.

In the conditions of constant economic pressure and changes in social policy, the government of Ukraine must ensure not only the growth of pension payments, but also their stability. It is important that every pensioner feels supported and can live a dignified life.

The problem of low pensions remains relevant for Ukraine. Although there are some positive changes, a large number of retirees continue to receive very low benefits. Regional differences also highlight the unevenness of social support in different parts of the country.
