The United States of America has provided Ukraine with a $1.15 billion grant through the Trust Fund, which brings together many World Bank donors. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.
The funds received are part of the fifth additional financing under the World Bank's Public Expenditure Support for Enhanced Accountability and Sustainable Governance in Ukraine (PEACE in Ukraine) project.
The main goal of this project is to partially compensate for state budget expenditures, including social and humanitarian expenditures that are not related to security and defense. In 2023, Ukraine has already received $10.9 billion from the United States in the form of non-refundable grants to support the state budget.
This grant funding is aimed at compensating for state budget expenditures, including payments under certain state social assistance programs, such as expenditures for pregnant women, people with disabilities, low-income families, and housing and utility subsidies. The money is also used to pay the salaries of employees of the State Emergency Service (SES) and to pay the salaries of employees of state bodies and educational institutions.
Sergiy Marchenko, Minister of Finance of Ukraine, emphasized that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Ukraine's state budget has already received support from the United States totaling $22.9 billion.
