Ukraine has once again distinguished itself on the world stage, as the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy has announced the inclusion of 20 Ukrainian cultural heritage sites in the International List of Cultural Property under Enhanced Protection by UNESCO.
These important cultural heritage sites include:
St. Sophia Cathedral and the monastery buildings of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, a historical symbol of Ukraine that has become part of the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Lviv - The ensemble of the historic center is an incredible place, full of history and architectural beauty.
The wooden churches of the Carpathian region are valuable objects of national heritage, including the Yasinya Church of the Ascension and others.
The residence of the Bukovinian and Dalmatian metropolitans is another unique attraction that has gained recognition.
The Astronomical Observatory of the Kyiv National University is a testament to scientific achievement in Ukraine.
These are just some of the sites that now enjoy special protection. It is important to note that the list does not include sites located in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, as well as the historic centers of Odesa and Chernihiv.
At the UNESCO meeting, it was also decided to train specialists for the protection of cultural property, conduct training sessions for the military, and provide assistance from the fund for emergency measures. The Declaration on the Protection of Cultural Heritage in Ukraine was also adopted at the meeting.
Ukraine continues to preserve and celebrate its rich cultural heritage even in the most difficult times.
