According to the State Statistics Service, the volume of housing commissioning in Ukraine in the first half of 2023 is impressive, having increased by 1.4 times compared to the same period last year, to 3.59 million square meters. This is evidence of active construction activity in the country.
In the first half of this year, 2.03 million square meters of housing were commissioned in urban areas, which is 56.3% of the total and 25% more than in the corresponding period of 2022. In rural areas, this figure is also impressive - 1.57 million square meters of housing, which is almost twice as much as last year.
In total, 44.2 thousand apartments were commissioned during this period, which is 61% more than in the same period of 2022. 26.4 thousand apartments were commissioned in cities and 17.7 thousand apartments in villages, which is 2.5 times more than last year.
Among the total number of commissioned housing, 9.9 thousand apartments were commissioned in single-family houses, and 36.2 thousand apartments were commissioned in multi-family houses.
In the first half of the year, most housing was commissioned in Kyiv region (594.3 thousand square meters), Kyiv (544.1 thousand square meters), Vinnytsia region (459.2 thousand square meters), Lviv region (340 thousand square meters), Ivano-Frankivsk region (246.7 thousand square meters) and Zakarpattia region (176.3 thousand square meters).
Growth in housing starts was recorded in all regions of Ukraine, except for three regions where a decline was observed: Poltava region (-41.2%), Chernihiv region (-39%) and Zhytomyr region (-11.2%).
It is noted that the data are based on housing commissioned in accordance with the temporary procedure for commissioning houses built without a building permit and do not take into account the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation and parts of the territories where military operations are (were) conducted.
