In March of this year, there was a significant decrease in interest in renting housing in Ukraine, in particular in a number of regions of the country. According to analysts of the DIM.RIA marketplace, the largest outflow of demand was recorded in the Zakarpattia, Zhytomyr and Ternopil regions, where the number of search queries fell by 27%, 17% and 14%, respectively.
There was also a decrease in interest in renting in the Chernivtsi region (by 10%) and Volyn region (by 11%), which indicates a general decline in activity in the rental market compared to the previous month.
In March, users were less active in searching for housing for rent, with the exception of front-line regions, where the real estate market does not operate. According to the study, the largest increase in search queries was recorded in Sumy region (+14%), Kirovohrad region (+5%), Odesa region (+4%) and Lviv region (+4%).
Despite the decline in demand, the number of new housing offers on the market increased. Owners were especially active in publishing new offers in the Zakarpattia region (by 149%), at a slightly slower pace in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyi and Kharkiv regions. In the capital, the number of new offers was slightly lower compared to the previous month.
One of the characteristics of the market is the ratio between the number of rental ads and the number of responses to them. For example, in Kyiv in March it was 1:3, which indicates activity in the market compared to other regions, where these indicators can differ by dozens of times.
Thus, the housing rental market in Ukraine continues to demonstrate variability and responds to changes in demand and supply in different regions of the country.
