Ukrainians have become less negative about the state of the country's economy, even with the ongoing war. According to a study conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology in June 2023, the number of citizens who assess the economic situation as bad or very bad has halved compared to November 2021.
The study was conducted as part of the Ukrainian Society sociological monitoring commissioned by the Institute of Sociology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
According to the study, positive changes in the perception of the state of the economy in Ukraine began to be observed in 2022 and remained almost unchanged in 2023. In November 2021, 58% of citizens considered the state of the economy to be poor or very poor. In 2022, this number decreased to 27.8%, and in 2023 it was 29.4%.
In 2021, only 1.2% of citizens believed that their income was significantly higher than the level necessary for a normal life. In 2022, this number increased to 3.2%, and in 2023 it was 2.6%.
There was also an improvement in public opinion about income. In 2021, 52.4% of citizens considered their income to be significantly lower than necessary for a normal life. In 2022, this number decreased to 40.6%, and in 2023 - to 43.5%.
The study showed a positive trend in the perception of the state of the economy and income among Ukrainians. However, it should be borne in mind that military events can affect the dynamics of public opinion, and the real impact of the conflict on the economy remains difficult to predict.
The survey was conducted by telephone interviews using a computer via mobile phone numbers. The statistical sampling error was 2.2%.
