On July 21, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a decision on mass production of ammunition and parts for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This fundamental resolution recognizes the procedure for the production, procurement and supply of ammunition for use with UAVs at the state level.
This was announced by Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology Development and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
Fedorov emphasized that today the Ukrainian military often has to use home-made designs to equip UAVs with grenades, mines and other non-specialized ammunition, which is not always reliable and effective.
"We have already achieved significant results in the production of domestic UAVs at the front. However, as their number grows, so does the need for ammunition. The military is often forced to use home-made solutions to provide UAVs with grenades, mines and other non-specialized ammunition, which, unfortunately, is not always effective and reliable. The resolution will help change the situation," said Fedorov.
According to him, private companies will be able to legally produce ammunition for drones, and the military will receive high-quality and innovative solutions, as the resolution sets clear requirements for production.
MP Taras Melnychuk also said that the pilot project on the production, procurement and supply of ammunition for drones will last for 2 years.
The main goal of this project is to create and provide unmanned systems and their combat units with high-quality and reliable ammunition.
