Government decides to cancel payments for certain groups of IDPs

The Government of Ukraine has adopted a resolution "Some Issues of Support for Internally Displaced Persons", which provides for changes in the procedure for assigning housing payments to internally displaced persons (IDPs). The innovations provide for the automatic extension of payments for some IDPs, but payments will be canceled for other groups.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.

Starting from August 1, payments will be canceled for IDPs who have returned to their former place of residence, as well as for those who have been abroad for more than 30 calendar days without justified reasons. If there are justified reasons, such as business trips, internships, medical treatment, rehabilitation, care for a sick child or rehabilitation of a child, payments will continue after submitting the relevant documents.

Also, payments will be canceled for IDPs serving sentences in prisons or convicted of collaboration.

Internally displaced persons will also be divided according to their property status, and payments will be canceled for those who do not need additional financial support. Starting September 1, payments will be suspended for IDPs who, since the adoption of the changes

purchased a new vehicle manufactured less than 5 years ago, with the exception of vehicles purchased by volunteers and transferred for the needs of the country's defense;
acquired a land plot, apartment or house worth more than UAH 100 thousand (except for housing received at the expense of the state or local budget);
have an amount on a deposit bank account exceeding UAH 100 thousand;
have purchased foreign currency or precious metals worth more than UAH 100 thousand (except for currency received from charitable organizations or used to pay for medical, social or educational services);
have their own housing located in the territory where active hostilities are ongoing or which is occupied, if the area of this housing exceeds 13.65 square meters per family member.
The same criteria will apply to IDPs applying for payments for the first time. If an IDP (or a member of his or her family) has incurred large expenses or paid for services worth more than UAH 100,000 in one payment within three months prior to applying, payments will also be suspended.

If, after checking the state registers, a decision is made to terminate the assistance, the citizen will be notified. If the decision is not approved, he or she can appeal it to the social protection authority or submit the relevant documents to continue receiving payments," the Ministry of Social Policy said.
