Only a third of Americans support Trump's economic policy - poll results

Less than a hundred days after returning to the White House, US President Donald Trump is facing dissatisfaction from Americans with his economic policy. Despite promises to curb inflation and boost economic growth, only 37% of US citizens positively assess Trump's actions in this area. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Reuters agency.

The survey was conducted from April 16 to 21 among 4,306 Americans. It showed a significant decrease in the level of support for the president's economic policy compared to the beginning of his term. For comparison: on January 20, immediately after the inauguration, 42% of respondents expressed approval of Trump's policy, while now this figure has decreased by five percentage points.

At the start of his new presidency, Trump announced a large-scale economic transformation, calling it the beginning of the "Golden Age of America." However, in fact, he began an aggressive tariff policy, introducing duties against key US trading partners, which provoked a new wave of trade conflicts. The president also tried to put pressure on the Federal Reserve, demanding more active intervention in economic processes.

Analysts note that these actions, instead of stabilizing, led to increased tension in the economy. In particular, James Petokukis, a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, emphasized that there are more and more signals of instability, and this puts pressure on the Trump administration. In his opinion, even if the tariff policy is revised, the economy will not recover quickly due to the existing level of uncertainty and chaos.

The decline in the level of confidence in Trump's economic strategy creates challenges for both domestic stability and foreign economic policy of the United States. Since economic promises were one of the key factors in Trump's victory, the low level of support in this area can become a serious threat to his political capital.

Thus, just weeks before the symbolic milestone of one hundred days in office, Donald Trump finds himself faced with the need to review some of his economic initiatives. If his administration fails to adapt quickly to the challenges, this could have significant consequences not only for the US economy, but also for the global market.
