Ukraine prepares for negotiations with the US on cooperation in the subsoil sector: position and delegation agreed

Ukraine has completed the formation of its own position on the draft agreement with the US in the field of strategic minerals and is preparing for the next stage - official negotiations in Washington. In the near future, the Ukrainian delegation will travel to the US to discuss the document proposed by the American side.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Andriy Sybiga reported this in an interview with Ukrinform. According to him, the Ukrainian side has already developed its vision of the future agreement and is preparing the composition of the negotiating team to participate in consultations with the United States.

“We already have a clearly formed position on the content of the agreement and are currently finalizing the composition of the delegation. In the near future, it will travel to Washington for a detailed discussion of the document that our American partners have offered us,” Sybiga noted.

The diplomat also emphasized that the key criterion for Ukraine is to ensure a balanced approach in the agreements. In particular, the agreement must be beneficial to both parties, meet the national interests of Ukraine, and not contradict the state's strategic course for integration with the European Union.

"This is an extremely important principle for us - to ensure that the agreement does not conflict with Ukraine's obligations in the context of European integration," he emphasized.

In addition, the Ukrainian side plans to involve one of the leading law firms for legal support of the negotiations. The delegation will also include a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which should ensure proper representation of the state in an important strategic dialogue with the United States.

The future agreement may become a key element in strengthening Ukraine's energy security, attracting investment, and developing the extraction of critical resources.
