Boryspil and Wizz Air plan to resume air traffic: 30 new routes for Ukraine

From February 11 to 13, 2025, the delegation of Boryspil International Airport held important negotiations with representatives of the European budget airline Wizz Air at the company's headquarters in Budapest. The main topic of the meeting was the resumption of passenger air traffic between Ukraine and other countries after the opening of Ukrainian airspace.

These negotiations were an important step in the restoration of air traffic, which was seriously limited due to military operations. As reported by the press service of Boryspil Airport, the airport management presented a detailed report on the airport's readiness to receive flights. In particular, the issues of technical readiness, the state of the airfield infrastructure, terminals and necessary equipment for servicing aircraft were discussed.

Special attention was paid to ensuring high safety standards, as well as the qualifications of airport personnel, since certification requirements are an important factor for launching international-level flights. An important point in the negotiations was the confirmation that Boryspil Airport is ready to receive flights under conditions of infrastructure restoration and enhanced security.

One of the key issues was the possible resumption of international routes, including new destinations. Wizz Air plans to launch 30 new flights, which will significantly expand the possibilities for travel from Ukraine to various European cities. This will be an important factor for the development of the aviation market in Ukraine and will contribute to economic growth, investment attraction and the restoration of tourist flows.

The next stage in the cooperation between Boryspil and Wizz Air will be an airport audit. Representatives of the airline plan to visit Kyiv in the near future in order to thoroughly check the readiness of the airport to serve passengers and ensure compliance with international aviation standards. This will allow to finally confirm the date of the launch of flights and prepare all necessary technical aspects.

Cooperation between Boryspil and Wizz Air can be an important stage in the resumption of air transportation in Ukraine and increasing the accessibility of international travel for Ukrainians. The restoration of these routes is important not only for passenger transportation, but also for the country's economy, which is experiencing a difficult period of recovery.
