State Budget of Ukraine for 2024: Expenditures Increased by UAH 456.5 Billion

In 2024, the expenditures of the state budget of Ukraine increased by UAH 456.5 billion, which is 15% more compared to the previous year. Total cash expenditures of the general fund reached UAH 3.5 trillion, and in December alone they amounted to UAH 492.2 billion. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine.

The main part of the expenditures was directed to ensuring the country's defense capability, social protection of citizens and support of key social programs. In particular, UAH 1.3 trillion was spent on labor remuneration, which is 37% of total expenditures. Of this amount, almost UAH 973.3 billion was directed to the maintenance of military personnel, which is one of the priority areas of state expenditures in conditions of military conflict.

Another significant item of expenditure was payment for goods and services - UAH 587.1 billion or 16.8% of total expenditures. Among these funds, the largest part, namely UAH 340 billion, was allocated for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, other military formations and law enforcement agencies. UAH 157.3 billion was allocated to the medical guarantees program, which allows to ensure access to medical services for all citizens.

Social spending also made up a significant part of the budget, which indicates the presence of important social programs. UAH 570.1 billion was allocated for social security, or 16.3% of total expenditures. Of this amount, UAH 274.7 billion went to pensions, another UAH 112.8 billion to social protection, and UAH 39.6 billion to subsidies and benefits for socially vulnerable segments of the population.

In addition, the Ministry of Social Policy allocated UAH 447.9 billion to various social payments. Subsidies and current transfers to enterprises, which amount to UAH 426.7 billion, were also an important item of expenditure. In particular, UAH 378.2 billion was spent on the purchase of goods for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and another UAH 18 billion was spent on supporting the Entrepreneurship Development Fund.

A significant part of the budget funds was also allocated to servicing the state debt. Thus, UAH 307.4 billion was spent for these purposes. In addition, UAH 177.5 billion was allocated for transfers to local budgets, which allows ensuring financial stability on the ground and supporting local initiatives.

The state budget expenditures for 2024 indicate the priority of defense spending and social protection, which are important for supporting national security and the well-being of citizens in difficult times.
