Ukraine has approved the Strategy-2030: how the healthcare system will change

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has adopted an ambitious Strategy for the Development of the Healthcare System until 2030. As part of this document, an operational plan for the implementation of key measures for the period 2025-2027 has also been approved.

When announcing this news, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal emphasized the importance of clear planning. According to him, the strategy includes specific indicators, identifies responsible persons and provides for clear steps. The main goal is to create one of the most effective and accessible healthcare systems in the world.

The new approach is aimed at solving the most pressing health problems of the population. The strategy aims to ensure that every citizen has the opportunity not only to receive quality medical care, but also to maintain their health through preventive measures. Particular attention is paid to providing transparent and effective tools for medical professionals who will influence the formation of policies at all levels.

Among the key aspects of the changes are the expansion of the role of primary health care, the integration of narrow-profile medical institutions into multidisciplinary hospitals, and the adaptation of medicine to the needs of veterans. The reconstruction and modernization of hospitals is planned, which will be a significant stage in improving the infrastructure.

Another important area is the improvement of the management of the medical sector, reforming the financing system and increasing the efficiency of resource use. It is noted that the improvement also concerns the development of medical education, the creation of university hospitals, and the integration of educational and scientific activities.

Special attention is paid to the introduction of modern technologies, such as telemedicine, artificial intelligence, transplantology, and bioengineering. Shmyhal emphasized the importance of digitalizing the healthcare system: the state plans to completely abandon paper documentation by introducing digital management. In addition, the plans include involving the private sector in the medical guarantee program to invest in the development of the industry.

Strategy 2030 is an important step towards building a modern and sustainable healthcare system capable of meeting the challenges of the time and providing quality medical care for every Ukrainian.
