BP has finally made a decision to cancel the transfer of clocks from winter to summer time

The council finally made a decision to cancel the change of clocks from winter to summer time. Bill No. 4201, which was voted on on Tuesday, July 16, received the support of 261 deputies. This means that the last change of clocks to winter time will take place on October 27, 2024, after which the change will be canceled forever, starting in 2025.

The bill was considered by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Economic Development, which earlier this week recommended supporting the bill. The main arguments were arguments in favor of citizens' health and elimination of the impact of changes in the clock on people's physical and mental well-being.

Scientists and doctors are convinced that annual clock changes have a negative impact on people's health and cause significant problems, in particular, with breakfast and sleep.

In addition, the Committee noted that the adoption of the law will help strengthen Ukraine's national security and support its European integration strategies, creating a single Kyiv time for the entire country.

Bill No. 4201 was first submitted to the Verkhovna Rada in October 2020 by Ruslan Stefanchuk, the current chairman of the Verkhovna Rada. It provides for the establishment of Coordinated Universal Time plus two hours (UTC+2), which corresponds to the current winter time in Ukraine.

Although the draft law passed the first reading in March 2021, the progress of its adoption was delayed until July 16, 2024 due to difficulties in gathering the necessary number of votes in the parliament.

Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed hope that the new law will help avoid disagreements with neighboring countries regarding the time regime, ensuring stability in the nation's clock.
