Polish Sejm adopts resolution on imports of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus to the EU

The Polish Sejm has adopted a resolution concerning the import of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus to the European Union, calling on the European Commission to ban this practice. 441 deputies voted in favor of the initiative, while two abstained from voting.

The resolution notes that imports of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus continue to generate huge revenues for these countries, which may contribute to their ability to continue the war with Ukraine.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, in a difficult situation related to the growth of grain production in Russia, Russia is to blame for the fall in grain prices on world markets. This has led to the loss of certain markets for European Union countries, including Poland, and Ukraine.

The conclusions of the resolution also note that the Polish agricultural industry has experienced negative consequences of the growth of imports of agricultural products from Russia and Belarus. It has lost competitiveness in some markets, which has led to problems with profitability and profitability.

MEP Marta Wrzesło noted that the resolution meets the needs of Polish and European farmers and emphasized the need for solidarity with Ukraine, but she stressed that this should not be at the expense of farmers.

Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czeslaw Sekerski believes that the government should take concrete measures to address the situation. He expressed concern about the loss of markets due to Russia's actions and called for measures to protect the interests of Polish farmers.
