  • New Labor Code in Ukraine

    Опубликовано: 2024-01-09 16:00:38

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine has outlined prospects for developing a new Labor Code aimed at legalizing various forms of employment, such as remote work, home-based work and flexible working hours. In addition, it is planned to digitize the collection of information about employees, which will make paper employment records obsolete. This was announced by First Minister of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko.

Having started discussing the document with all stakeholders in January, the ministry emphasizes that the existing Labor Code of 1971 no longer meets the requirements of modernity and is becoming an obstacle to economic development.

The ministry's plans for 2024 include reforming approaches to public procurement aimed at combating structural unemployment. These measures should address the problem of staff shortages, when there is unemployment but the labor market needs other specialists.

The director of the Ministry, Yulia Svyrydenko, noted that the reform of the state order will minimize this mechanism for higher education institutions. Instead, Ukrainians will have the opportunity to receive a grant and choose their desired profession.

The grant will partially compensate for tuition costs (co-financing). Students will have a free choice of institution and educational program, ensuring maximum freedom of choice.

The system will allow a young person to enroll in any educational institution of their choice, increasing their chances of finding a job in their chosen field of study after graduation. The new changes are aimed at creating an efficient and flexible labor market in Ukraine.
