Psychologist David Weeks from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh has shared the surprising result of his decade-long study: people who regularly enjoy sex appear 5-7 years younger than their peers.
This discovery, based on the participation of 1,000 men and women of different ages, provides a unique perspective on the impact of intimacy on the aging process.
According to Dr. Weeks, people in their 40s and 50s who have sex three times a week are more likely to find youthfulness in their appearance compared to those who opt for intimacy twice a week. A key factor in determining this effect is the pleasure they receive. Biology also plays a role: the release of endorphins, natural analgesics and anxiety relievers during intimacy, contributes to better overall well-being.
Dr. Weeks stressed that stereotypes associated with age and intimacy have no scientific basis. He urged mature people to abandon prejudice and see regular sex as a natural and important aspect of taking care of their health and youth.
