Dangers of heels: why doctors forbid women to run in high-heeled shoes

Fresh research has concluded that women who prefer high-heeled shoes should be especially careful when it comes to running. Researchers say that by rushing around in high heels, women put themselves at risk for serious injuries, especially to their knee joints. This study, conducted at Ningbo University, China, warns fashionistas against the dangers of using heeled shoes carelessly.

Some women may believe that they rarely find themselves in a situation where they have to run in high heels. However, studies show that even brief periods of activity in such shoes can lead to the development of osteoarthritis. This condition, once developed, can stay with a person for their entire life.

It is especially important to note that the higher the heel, the greater the risk of spraining ankles while running. Running in high heels is not designed for this type of shoe. Therefore, the responsibility for such consequences lies with the women themselves, who, ignoring the potential risks, continue to neglect their health.

Statistics also confirm that ninety percent of women who prefer high-heeled shoes experience problems such as bunions, foot numbness, and frequent foot pain. Despite the risks associated with wearing heels, many women continue to choose this type of footwear, often for style and confidence.

Researchers have also noticed limited ankle movement in female heel lovers while running, which can lead to sprained ligaments. According to them, high-heeled shoes pose both short- and long-term health risks, including arthritis of the knee joints.
