While in Spain on October 5, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed serious concern about the future security of Europe. He noted that any pause in Russia's war against Ukraine could be a threat, and if Russia is given the opportunity to rebuild its military, it could lead to a new conflict in Europe in 2028.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia's restoration of its military capabilities could threaten not only Ukraine, but also other countries where Russian troops are present or are getting closer to the borders.
"In addition to Ukraine, these are definitely the Baltic states and those countries where Russian contingents are present. This is clear information from our intelligence," - Zelenskyy emphasized.
The President emphasized that the most dangerous enemy is the one that has learned from its mistakes and is preparing for a new attack based on them. Russia is now actively trying to expand its imperial influence and will try to undermine the unity of Europe through a military conflict.
"For decades, Russia has been trying to use war and conflict freezing to maintain control over its neighbors. It has hurt Moldova, tried to crush and divide Georgia, destabilize other parts of the Caucasus, strangle Belarus and try to tear off parts of Ukraine," Zelenskyy said.
The President called on the international community to respond to these threats and support Ukraine in its efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region.
"To ensure that there is no war anywhere in Europe in the near future, that no other city in Europe experiences what our cities and villages in Ukraine are experiencing, our unity must work one hundred percent," he emphasized.
Zelenskyy also noted that the most effective way to stop the aggressor is to win the war. Now the world has the opportunity to give Russia such a defeat.
It is worth noting that last year, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he was against freezing the military conflict with Russia, as it would mean keeping Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine. He believes that now it is important to make sure that Russia retreats from Ukrainian lands.
