The National Commission on State Language Standards has made a decision on the spelling of the name of the aggressor country

The National Commission on State Language Standards (NCSLS) has made an important decision regarding the lowercase spelling of the name of the aggressor country and its historical counterparts in unofficial texts.

According to the official announcement, the use of lowercase letters for the names "Russian Federation," "Russia," "Moscow," "Muscovy," "Moscow Kingdom," "Russian Empire," "State Duma of the Russian Federation," etc. in unofficial texts will no longer be considered a deviation from the norms of the Ukrainian language.

This decision was supported by the Institute of the Ukrainian Language of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the O.O. Potebnya Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which expressed their support for this initiative in their respective official letters.

Representatives of the NCCDC emphasized that the use of lowercase letters for the names of the aggressor country and historical analogues in unofficial texts is in line with the norms of the Ukrainian language and is no longer an exception.

It is important to note that the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, expressed his support for this decision and emphasized that the use of lowercase letters for the name of the aggressor country is correct and complies with the requirements of the Ukrainian language regulations.

This initiative is aimed at ensuring compliance with Ukrainian spelling and language norms when writing the names of countries and organizations in unofficial texts, while maintaining the importance of the language standard.
