The SNRIU and the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (US NRC) have signed an agreement on the exchange of technical information and cooperation in the field of nuclear safety.
This was reported by the SNRIU press service.
The document was signed by Oleh Korikov, Acting Head of the Ukrainian regulator, Chief State Inspector for Nuclear and Radiation Safety, and Christopher T. Hanson, Chairman of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
"This agreement will be an important step to deepen cooperation between our countries in the field of safe use of nuclear energy," said Oleh Korikov.
The main purpose of the agreement is to continue and deepen cooperation, exchange of experience and interaction between regulatory authorities, as well as the development of joint research programs in the field of nuclear safety.
To achieve these goals, it is envisaged to exchange information on regulations in these areas and implement joint cooperation projects. The mutual exchange of experience and knowledge will help improve the safety of nuclear energy use and develop innovative approaches in this area.
Such initiatives reflect the strategic partnership between the United States and Ukraine in the nuclear field and emphasize the commitment of both countries to ensure the safe and efficient use of nuclear energy. Through the exchange of experience and knowledge, both sides will be able to strengthen their capabilities in the nuclear industry and improve the safety of national nuclear programs.
