Serbian artist Marina Abramović has joined Ukraine in reenacting her historical performance "The Artist Is Present", which was held at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York in 2010.
The performance will be part of the benefit auction, in which everyone can take part. The essence of the performance in 2010 was that the legendary performance artist sat silently in a chair, while visitors took turns sitting in front of her for eight hours a day. The performance lasted almost three months, for a total of 716 hours - during which time around 1500 people took part. The performance will only include two meetings: one for one person and one for two.
The performance will take place on April 16 in New York, while the auction will be held on the Artsy platform and will close on March 25. The proceeds will go to Direct Relief, which works with the Ukrainian Ministry of Health.
