According to the results of February 2025, Estonia became the country with the highest inflation rate among the eurozone countries and the third in this indicator in the European Union. While most countries observed a decrease in the rate of price growth, inflation remained at a high level in some countries.
According to data from the Statistical Office of the European Union, published on March 19, annual inflation in the eurozone in February was 2.3%, which is lower than the January figure of 2.5%. For comparison, in February 2024 this figure was 2.6%. Overall, inflation in the EU in February decreased to 2.7% against 2.8% in January, remaining at the same level as a year ago.
The highest inflation rates among EU countries were recorded in Hungary (5.7%), Romania (5.2%) and Estonia (5.1%). Within the eurozone, the top three were Estonia, Croatia (4.8%) and Belgium (4.4%).
At the same time, the lowest inflation rates were recorded in France (0.9%), Ireland (1.4%) and Finland (1.5%). These countries demonstrate stable economic growth rates and controlled inflation policies.
The main factors that influenced the increase in prices in the eurozone were the increase in the cost of services, food, alcohol and tobacco products. At the same time, the gradual decrease in inflation in the region indicates the effectiveness of measures aimed at containing price pressures.
The preservation of high inflation in Estonia, despite the general downward trend, may require additional measures from the government and financial regulators. This issue remains key for the country's economic policy in the near future.
