Ukrenergo NPC received 86 million euros from the European Investment Bank (EIB). This amount will be used to create systems for protecting substations from drones located at key energy export facilities in the country.
The company’s press service noted that this cooperation is another manifestation of support from the EU, which focuses on protecting the country’s critical infrastructure in the face of constant attacks.
According to Oleksiy Brecht, the acting chairman of the board, previously implemented protection projects have already proven their effectiveness during the latest Russian shelling. At the moment, work on sheltering is ongoing, and each new protected substation reduces the risk of power outages for consumers.
EIB Vice-President Tereza Chervinska emphasized that the bank’s consistent investments demonstrate Europe’s firm desire to support the Ukrainian energy sector. In particular, it is about ensuring a stable electricity supply throughout the country, which is essential for the civilian population and businesses.
The EIB, according to Chervinska, continues its efforts to restore and modernize critical infrastructure, based on interaction with EU House partners. The focus on the energy sector demonstrates its critical role in ensuring the economic and social stability of the country.
