  • Ukraine is preparing for large-scale retraining: 180,000 citizens will receive new professional opportunities

    Опубликовано: 2024-09-05 10:00:28

Over the next three years, about 180,000 Ukrainians will be able to learn new professions or improve their qualifications thanks to the ambitious Skills Alliance initiative. This program aims to overcome the problem of structural unemployment in Ukraine and increase the competitiveness of the workforce in the labor market.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Tetyana Berezhna during the founding meeting of the participants of the Skills Alliance. She emphasized the importance of this initiative, which is aimed at eliminating the gap between the available qualifications of workers and the needs of employers. According to Berezhnaya, one of the key problems of the modern labor market is structural unemployment, which arises due to the mismatch of the qualifications of employees with the requirements of employers.

Thanks to the Skills Alliance initiative, it is planned to reach more than 180,000 citizens with various educational programs. These programs are aimed at retraining and acquiring new professions both in Ukraine and abroad. Special attention will be paid to vulnerable population groups, such as internally displaced persons, youth, veterans, people with disabilities, as well as Ukrainians returning from abroad.

The initiative aims not only to increase the qualification level of Ukrainian workers, but also to ensure their economic integration into society. This especially applies to women, young people, the elderly and other socially vulnerable groups. An important aspect is also the promotion of the return of Ukrainians who were forced to leave abroad by providing opportunities for reintegration into the labor market.

Skills Alliance will also contribute to Ukraine's integration into the European Union. For this purpose, it is planned to improve mutual recognition of diplomas obtained abroad and to bring education standards in line with EU requirements. This will allow Ukrainian specialists to find work in EU countries more easily and will increase their mobility on the international labor market.

An important component of the initiative is cooperation with the private sector, which aims to reduce the gap between business needs and the available skills of workers. This will make it possible to quickly adapt the labor market to modern challenges and ensure stable economic growth of Ukraine in the future.
