  • Myths about infertility: revealing facts and reality

    Опубликовано: 2023-12-29 08:48:04

Every year the problem of infertility becomes more and more relevant. The press often raises this topic, but there are also many myths around it. Let's deal with some of them.

Myth 1: Most women do not face the problem of conception.

In fact, according to statistics, one in ten couples in the United States face the problem of infertility. Age, environment, stress, and overall health greatly affect the possibility of conception. For example, after the age of 40, the chances of getting pregnant decrease, and by the age of 40, there is only a 5% chance of conception per month.

Myth 2: Infertility is purely a woman's problem.

Infertility affects both sexes. In 35% of cases, men are the cause of infertility, in 20% of cases, both partners are the cause, and only in 35% of cases, the cause lies in the female body. Thus, it is a problem that needs the attention of both parties.

Myth 3: Infertility is a psychological problem.

Some people believe that infertility can be overcome psychologically by stopping thinking about it. However, infertility is a medical problem related to the reproductive system. Positive emotions and vacations are certainly healthy, but they won't solve infertility.

Myth 4: Couples who try to conceive often will certainly achieve results.

Dealing with infertility problems on your own is often impossible. However, by seeking medical attention, the chances of 50% of infertile couples conceiving a child increase significantly when medical help is utilized.

Myth 5: Adoption increases the chances of pregnancy.

This statement is absurd. Adoption has no effect on the possibility of conception. It is also frivolous to use adoptive children as a way to achieve pregnancy. Practice shows that only 5% of couples with adopted children subsequently have children of their own.

Myth 6: Men often leave the family because of infertility.

Although there are cases of men leaving the family because of infertility, these cases are few. Most realize that the causes of infertility can be different and are not necessarily related to the woman alone. Some couples become even stronger, united by a common goal of overcoming difficulties.

Myth 7: Infertile couples cannot be happy.

Despite the challenges, many couples find happiness in different areas of life. Some solve infertility by adopting an adopted child and fill it with love. Happiness depends on the couple and their willingness to be happy despite their circumstances.
