The Norwegian arms manufacturing company Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace has signed a contract with Ukraine to supply a modern anti-drone system, Counter Uncrewed Aerial Systems, for a total of NOK 740 million (USD 71 million).
According to the company's press service, under this contract, Ukraine will receive several CORTEX Typhon systems specially designed to counter a wide range of drones with solutions for physical impact or other methods of neutralizing the air threat.
"This contract will be a significant step forward in strengthening the defense capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and will help ensure their ability to protect the people and territory from airborne threats," said Erik Lee, President of Kongsberg Defense & Aerospace.
A significant advantage is that the delivery of this anti-drone system is supported by funding from the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU), initiated by the United Kingdom and with Norway as a major donor.
The Cortex Typhon C-UAS is a modern anti-drone system made of Teledyne Flir, Kongsberg and armored vehicle components. The system includes Dingo vehicles, machine guns and ammunition provided by Norway to the Ukrainian armed forces.
Representatives of the Norwegian government reiterate their readiness to continue to provide assistance to Ukraine for as long as it is needed. They realize that Western support is crucial for Ukraine to be able to repel Russian aggression.
It is worth recalling that Norway has previously provided eight Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. Norway also provided four support vehicles and funding for ammunition and spare parts for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In addition, together with Denmark, Norway has signed an agreement to provide Ukraine with 8,000 shells.
