  • Tricks in cosmetic stores: what is hidden behind the advertising offers

    Опубликовано: 2025-04-21 15:28:37

Many women are familiar with the tempting offers that can be found in cosmetics and perfume stores. Loud advertising posters promise discounts, gifts with purchases or free consultations. Of course, who does not dream of additional bonuses when buying their favorite cosmetics? But what is really hidden behind these offers, and how does the store use psychological tricks to attract customers?

The first thing to pay attention to is cleanliness when using samples and free makeup. Often we do not think about the fact that makeup brushes and samples can be a place where bacteria accumulate. In large stores, where a large number of people try products every day, the tools are probably not cleaned properly. This applies not only to brushes, but also to the samples themselves - for example, lipsticks, which are often applied directly to the lips, which can become a source of infections.

Another popular marketing technique is playing on the emotions of the buyer. For example, consultants may praise your skin and assure you that this cream or product will make it even more beautiful and healthy. These compliments often affect women's self-esteem, especially if it is low, and can lead to spontaneous purchases. Salespeople know exactly how to work with the emotional states of their clients so that they forget about common sense and leave money for expensive products.

Many makeup master classes held in such stores actually have one goal: to sell as many products as possible. Although salespeople often position themselves as experts, in reality they receive a commission for each jar of cream or tube of lipstick sold. These "consultants" may have minimal knowledge of cosmetology and are more focused on promoting products than on real help in skin care.

Another marketing ploy that is worth exposing is free makeup. At first, it seems that the service is free, but in fact, it serves only as a pretext for selling expensive products. A woman, seeing how great she looks after makeup, will most likely decide to buy these cosmetics, even if she did not initially plan to do so.

When meeting with a consultant, do not underestimate the importance of the questions they ask. For example, when you are asked what products you usually use, this helps the seller understand how much money you are willing to spend. If your answer is a budget product from a drugstore, the consultant will immediately assess you as a client who will not spend large amounts.

Another unpleasant moment that often remains behind the scenes is how sellers discuss customers behind their backs. Many of them can laugh and joke about customers, especially if they ask naive or strange questions. This, of course, does not affect the quality of service, but an unpleasant aftertaste can remain with the buyer.

So, before you head out to buy another jar of cream or mascara, remember that behind every tempting ad there may be a clever marketing ploy. Beware of empty promises and pay attention to what your skin really needs.
