French Mirage-2000 fighters used for the first time to repel a Russian attack

On the night of March 7, 2025, the Russian occupiers carried out another massive combined missile and drone strike on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. The main target was the gas production facilities. To do this, the enemy used missiles of various types, including air, ground and sea-based, as well as strike drones.

This was one of the largest attacks in recent times, and a feature of this air battle was the baptism of fire of French Mirage-2000 fighters. Only a month ago, these aircraft arrived in Ukraine, and now they have taken part in repelling a Russian attack for the first time, working in close coordination with other defense forces, including American F-16 fighters. Anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare means and mobile fire groups also participated in repelling the attack.

According to preliminary data, the radio-technical troops of the Air Force of Ukraine recorded 261 air targets. Among them, 67 missiles of various types were detected, including 35 Kh-101/Kh-55cm cruise missiles, 8 Kalibr cruise missiles, 3 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, 4 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles and 8 Kh-59/69 guided aircraft missiles.

In addition, the Ukrainian defense forces detected 194 strike unmanned aerial vehicles, including both Shahed and simulator drones of various types. Thanks to the coordinated actions of air and ground defense, it was possible to stop a significant part of the enemy attacks, which became an important victory in this battle.

This episode marked an important milestone in military cooperation between Ukraine and its allies, including France and the United States, demonstrating the readiness of international partners to provide support in the fight against Russian aggression.

French Mirage-2000 fighters, like American F-16s, have become an important element in Ukraine's defense. These aircraft significantly increase the country's Air Force's ability to effectively intercept enemy missiles and drones, which is critical for protecting civilian infrastructure and military facilities.
