On Friday, February 28, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to allocate a significant amount to support the families of deceased servicemen of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense. A total of 1.1 billion hryvnias will be allocated for one-time cash assistance to these families. This was announced by government representative Taras Melnychuk during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
The specified amount will be allocated from the reserve fund of the state budget of Ukraine and allocated for non-refundable payments aimed at supporting the families of military personnel who died in connection with the performance of their duties. This decision became part of the government's strategy for social protection of servicemen and their families.
Additionally, in January 2025, a significant amount - 131 billion hryvnias - was allocated from the state budget for defense and security needs. This is more than 61% of all expenditures of the general fund of the state budget. Financing security objectives includes payment of military salaries, purchase of equipment and weapons, as well as medical care and other necessary expenses.
In particular, a share of these funds will be directed to improving the living conditions of military personnel and their families, including the provision of vital goods and services. An important component of this strategy is to ensure not only military needs, but also support for their loved ones in difficult life situations.
In addition, the government continues to actively improve the mechanisms for financing defense needs, in particular through internal revenues and borrowing. This allows for sustainable support for military structures and maintaining the national security of Ukraine at the required level.
In conclusion, the allocation of more than 1 billion hryvnias to support the families of deceased military personnel is an important step in the government's strategy for social protection and support for the military and their families. This demonstrates the state's readiness to be responsible for its defenders and provide proper conditions for their service and life.
