Ukraine leads the world in fixed internet stability

Despite the ongoing war, regular attacks on telecommunications infrastructure and cyber threats, Ukraine remains the world leader in fixed internet stability. This was discussed during a roundtable discussion on the topic “Communications during wartime: experience in operational and technical management of public electronic communication networks under martial law”, held at Ukrinform.

The event was organized by the Administration of the State Service for Special Communications and the National Center for Operational and Technical Management of Electronic Communication Networks of Ukraine (NCU) with the participation of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the National Commission for the Regulation of Electronic Communications and the Radio Frequency Spectrum. The participants discussed Ukraine’s unique experience in ensuring uninterrupted communication in wartime.

Over the years of the full-scale invasion, Ukrainian networks have repeatedly suffered destruction due to strikes by various types of weapons, as well as constant cyberattacks. However, thanks to the coordinated work of state structures, communication operators and providers, the telecommunications infrastructure withstands the test.

One of the key elements in ensuring the stable operation of networks is the activities of the NCU, which promptly responds to damage and restores critical facilities. The main tasks of the center are to quickly eliminate the consequences of attacks, support the functioning of strategically important communication channels and introduce new protection technologies.

“The full-scale invasion demonstrated how critical the availability of communications is for both the military and civilians. We all felt how important reliable communication channels are. Thanks to quick decisions and close cooperation, we managed to keep the networks operational. I express my gratitude to all operators, providers, NCU, as well as security and defense forces for their invaluable role in maintaining communications,” said Deputy Head of the State Special Communications Service Volodymyr Trofymenko.

Thus, even in the most difficult conditions, Ukraine demonstrates a high level of technological stability, which is an important factor not only for supporting the economy, but also for information security and coordination of defense actions.
