SBU has become a pillar of the Defense Forces: successes and prospects

In 2024, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) strengthened its reputational importance, becoming one of the main links of the country's Defense Forces. Successful special operations on the front and in the rear, the use of naval drones, and operations deep inside enemy territory have become symbols of the organization's success, notes expert Oleksiy Golobutsky.

On the front lines, SBU employees are involved in the hottest spots of the war. According to the expert, since February 2022, service fighters have destroyed more than 1,400 tanks and more than 2,500 armored combat vehicles. Every eighth tank hit on the battlefield is the result of the work of SBU special forces. In particular, in the Kursk operation, SBU combat groups are demonstrating their effectiveness.

Deep inside enemy territory, the SBU uses long-range drones, constantly weakening Russia's military potential. According to the Pentagon, the service’s attacks have disabled 14% of Russia’s oil refining capacity. The service’s special operations often become symbols of modern warfare: Lieutenant General Igor Kirilov was eliminated in Moscow.

Expert Golobutsky notes that trust in the SBU has now reached a record level. It is no coincidence that citizens show support for the service’s activities, which distinguishes it from other components of the country’s defense system.
