Ukrainian specialists in the arms industry have significantly modernized the M113 armored personnel carrier, which is being supplied to the Ukrainian Defense Forces as part of international assistance. Thanks to the installation of the modern remotely controlled combat module "Tavria 14.5/7.62", the firepower of the equipment has increased significantly.
The installation of the latest equipment was reported by the Main Department for Lifecycle Support of Armaments and Military Equipment of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. According to Deputy Defense Minister Dmytro Klimenkov, this module consists of two 14.5 mm and 7.62 mm machine guns, which allow the machine gunner to fire without leaving the protection of the armored vehicle. The battlefield is monitored via a monitor, which increases the safety and accuracy of task performance.
Previously, the main armament of the M113 was a 12.7 mm machine gun, and the gunner had to work from an open position, being on the armor. This made it vulnerable to enemy fire. Thanks to the new Tavria module, not only the crew's protection is improved, but also the combat capabilities of the transporters are expanded in the difficult conditions of modern combat.
Modernization of armored personnel carriers is an important component of increasing the defense capability of the Ukrainian army. Given the high level of threat on the battlefield, the introduction of new technologies allows reducing risks for personnel and at the same time ensuring more effective performance of tasks.
Ukraine actively uses international assistance not only to replenish equipment, but also to adapt it to modern conditions. The Tavria module is a vivid example of how Ukrainian gunsmiths integrate advanced solutions into existing equipment, making them more effective.
This achievement also demonstrates the high level of engineering and technological capabilities of Ukrainian enterprises of the defense complex. Further development of such projects will be another step towards providing the Armed Forces of Ukraine with modern equipment that meets the challenges of the time.
