Compared to the previous year, the number of applications for such popular specialties as "Law", "Computer Science" and "Software Engineering" has significantly decreased. These data are provided by the information system "Vstup.OSVITA.UA", which compiled a rating of specialties by by the number of submitted applications from applicants for all forms of education for a bachelor's degree.
According to the data of the system, the largest number of applications were received in the specialties "Psychology" (49,782), "Management" (47,813), and "Philology" (44,663). The leaders also included "Law" (40,265) and "Computer science" (33,121). Among the less popular majors with the fewest applications were Shipbuilding (217), Public Health (163), Education, Pedagogical Sciences (75), Religious Studies (62) and Information Security Management (12 ).
Although some majors remain stable in popularity among applicants, such as "Psychology" and "Management", others, such as "Law" (17 thousand fewer applications than last year), "Computer Science" (nearly 10 thousand fewer) and "Software engineering" (less by almost 7 thousand), showed a noticeable decrease in interest among applicants.
The dynamics of changes in the popularity of specialties shows that the choice of applicants is a complex and multidimensional problem that affects the development of higher education in Ukraine. Trends in changing demand can reflect social and economic transformations in the country, reflecting the modern needs and expectations of the younger generation.
