Ukraine insists on the inclusion of Russia in the FATF blacklist due to the agreement with North Korea

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine expressed an urgent demand to include Russia in the blacklist of the International Anti-Money Laundering Group (FATF) in connection with the comprehensive strategic partnership agreement concluded by the Russian side with the DPRK. This information was published on the official website of the ministry.

The agreement between Russia and North Korea provides for the creation of alternative trade and settlement mechanisms that should avoid international sanctions aimed at limiting the destructive behavior of both countries.

"Gross abuses by Russia have become obvious for all to see. The Kremlin is increasing military and economic ties with North Korea and Iran, funding terrorist organizations both at home and abroad, weakening anti-money laundering institutions, and sponsoring cybercrime. The FATF has a clear mechanism for countering these actions and protecting the global financial system — the inclusion of Russia in the blacklist," said Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko.

The head of the State Financial Monitoring Service, Ihor Cherkasky, added that Russia systematically violates FATF principles, giving Iran and North Korea the opportunity to circumvent international financial requirements.

According to Cherkaskyi, the inclusion of Russia in the FATF blacklist is a necessary step to ensure effective international coordination and reduce the threat of illegal financial activities.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Finance is actively working in the international arena to mobilize support for the inclusion of Russia in the FATF blacklist in order to prevent its destructive actions in the global financial system.

The issue of Russia's inclusion in the FATF blacklist is being discussed at international forums, where the need for joint efforts of participating countries in the fight against financial threats and crime is emphasized.
