  • The Netherlands increases funding for air defense and ammunition for Ukraine

    Опубликовано: 2024-04-22 09:30:27

The Netherlands continues to support Ukraine in its time of need by allocating more than 200 million euros for the purchase of air defense and artillery ammunition.

Dutch Minister of Defense Kees Ollongren made the announcement during an online meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council. According to Ollongren, the situation in Ukraine is critical, and the Netherlands has decided to increase its contribution to help the country.

It is noted that part of the funds allocated by the Netherlands will be used to support the German initiative "Immediate Air Defense Action", which provides for the rapid delivery of air defense equipment to Ukraine together with partners. Also, the Dutch Ministry of Defense will purchase short-range air defense systems to combat drone attacks.

In addition, the Netherlands is joining Estonia's initiative to supply artillery ammunition to Ukraine from its existing stockpile. This will help the Ukrainian military provide the necessary resources for the defense operation.

Earlier, the Netherlands has already contributed to support Ukraine by announcing a €250 million contribution to a similar plan by the Czech Republic to quickly deliver more grenades.

Such steps by the Netherlands demonstrate their firm support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression and provide significant assistance in strengthening the country's defense capabilities.
