Polish authorities are preparing for difficult negotiations with Ukraine, which is seeking to liberalize trade with the European Union. During the scheduled meeting between the Polish and Ukrainian governments on Thursday, March 28, the two countries are expected to sign a protocol of differences and discuss Ukraine's accession to the EU.

Polish Minister of Agriculture Czeslaw Sekerski said that on March 27 he will meet with his Ukrainian counterpart Mykola Solsky. The meeting will be attended by representatives of agricultural associations from both countries.

The parties are expected to discuss joint trade in agricultural products. "We are meeting in an unusual form. In addition to the ministers of agriculture of Ukraine and Poland, deputy ministers, advisors, there will also be representatives of various agricultural associations. We want this dialog to be brought down to the level of producers," Sekersky said.

Deputy Foreign Minister of Poland Andrzej Sheyna said that Warsaw is seeking to sign a protocol of disagreements with Ukraine during the meeting of the governments. He emphasized that the negotiations would be difficult, as Ukraine seeks to maintain trade liberalization with the EU.

The Polish politician also noted that historical issues between Poland and Ukraine will be discussed during the meeting. "We also need to settle certain historical issues between Poland and Ukraine. They are not the most important today, but they also allow us to defuse the atmosphere in many issues," said Sheyna.
