The Norwegian government continues to actively support Ukraine during the war by providing significant financial assistance. The press service of the Ministry of Finance reported that during the great war, the Norwegian side provided Ukraine with more than $500 million in direct budget support.

During the working meeting between Minister of Finance of Ukraine Sergii Marchenko and Ambassador of Norway Helene Sand Andersen, the current economic situation in Ukraine, the needs of the state budget for 2024 and the development of cooperation between the countries to increase the amount of budget support were discussed.

"Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Government of Norway has provided Ukraine with more than USD 500 million in direct budget support. In particular, a grant of about USD 485 million was provided under the project. The grant was provided under the World Bank's Public Expenditure Support for Enhanced Accountability and Responsiveness in Ukraine (PEACE in Ukraine) project," the statement said.

These funds were used to support priority social and humanitarian needs, including pensions, salaries for employees of educational and medical institutions, social protection, and humanitarian assistance.

In addition, Norway has joined the Multilateral Donor Coordination Platform for Ukraine, which demonstrates the country's active participation in international efforts to support Ukraine during the war. The Norwegian side has also pledged to allocate more than $5.5 billion for the restoration and development of Ukraine's economy.
