  • Reasons for closing the register of «international sponsors of war» in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has decided to close the register of "international sponsors of war", transferring all information from it to the Interagency Group on the Implementation of the State Sanctions Policy. This news was made public through the Government Portal.

During an expanded meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the issues of sanctions policy and relevant information were discussed. The meeting was attended by senior officials such as National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov, SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk, Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin, Head of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption Viktor Pavlushchyk, as well as ambassadors from several countries and representatives of other embassies.

"During the meeting, we discussed the functioning of the page "International Sponsors of War" on the website of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided information on numerous appeals from representatives of the diplomatic corps of partner countries regarding the shortcomings in this system and the negative impact of this list on the adoption of important decisions to counter Russian aggression," the CMU said.

According to representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Justice emphasized the inadmissibility of disseminating such information without regulating the issues at the legislative level.

At the same time, the National Security and Defense Council noted that there is no need for additional institutions to implement the sanctions policy, as all information is already included in the State Register of Sanctions.

Representatives of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption also acknowledged that there are questions about the further functioning of the list of "International Sponsors of War".

"After the discussion, the participants agreed on a number of proposals, in particular, to transfer information from the site to the Interagency Working Group on the Implementation of Sanctions Policy for processing and preparation of relevant proposals for consideration at the NSDC meeting," the CMU said in a statement.

In addition, the page "International Sponsors of War" on the NACP website will be redirected to the NSDC website "State Register of Sanctions". This is necessary to provide uniform information about the official list of entities subject to sanctions in Ukraine.

It is worth noting that for two years the NACP has been independently designating companies as "international sponsors of war," which has occasionally caused problems with other countries, such as Hungary, Austria, China, and Greece. Therefore, the agency suspended the process of adding companies to this list.
